Psychic Diary

MASBEDO, Paola Nicolin

 

Psychic Diary was born as an experiment: can a text, a confession – irregular, fragmented, syncopated – describe on the written page the process of making images before images themselves become visible? The book in your hands is a collection of intimate writings elaborated during a year spent working with Masbedo (Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni).

 

Together with the artists, we decided to put some words on paper while preparing the exhibition project the classroom. Masbedo, Handle with care. The narrative we produced is thus a texture of clues, panoramas and tables (or the places of the subject): it speaks about stillness and movement and mainly about the body of gestures related to the making of an image. Each of these key words corresponds actually to a chapter of the diary.

We wrote page after page, questions after silences, lacks of communication after overwhelming fluxes of information. Everything has been done and written before the exhibition took form. We were aware that a psychic diary has often a precise beginning and a blurred end.

 

These are then autobiographical pages, self portraits of a still immaterial and invisible exhibition, a matrix of new projects and, above all, a story of human beings making images to «handle with care».
